Whether you compete with the Houston Orcas during the SHRSL season or another team, you are welcome to join the Orcas' post-league competition Texas Amateur Athletic Federation (TAAF) team to compete in the TAAF Region I Championship Meet on Saturday, July 18, 2026.
The top 3 finishers in each event at the regional meet will then qualify to compete in the TAAF Summer Games of Texas hosted this year by Bryan-College Station-Texas A&M University from July 30-August 2.
The TAAF Summer Games of Texas swimming events will be held at the Texas A&M University Student Recreation Center Natatorium.
If you think you might be interested in participating in the TAAF Region I Championships and/or the TAAF Summer Games of Texas, then each potentially-interested aquatics athlete will need to pay an $11.00 TAAF Registration Fee by June 14.
After June 15, the fee goes up to $16.00 per aquatics athlete.
Then, at the end of the SHRSL season, if you decide that you do want to continue training with the Orcas to compete at the TAAF Region I and TAAF Summer Games of Texas meets, you will need to pay an additional $150 TAAF Summer Games of Texas Team Fee (to cover the cost of coaches and TAAF Region I Championship Meet registration fees) to train from July 6 through the TAAF Summer Games of Texas.
If, however, at the end of SHRSL league competition you decide that you do not want to continue then you don't need to do anything or pay anything else.
Unfortunately, we cannot refund the TAAF Registration Fee.
Also, if at the end of the SHRSL season you decide that you want to keep training and competing through the Summer Games of Texas, you can still pay the fee to continue training, however if the last TAAF Registration Fee deadline has already passed you may not be able to compete in either the TAAF Region I Championships or the TAAF Summer Games of Texas.
